Oblivious to reality

The details are a bit sketchy since I don't have the email anymore, but you'll get the gist of it.

So I get an email from a friend and she says, "You have to read this." Apparently her boss is active in the political world and has an opportunity to go to Washington D.C. for some seminar or something. He sends an email out to his company asking for money for a plane ticket. He mentions that even 5 or 10 dollars will help out. He also says that by helping him get to D.C. the contributors will "help do some good in the country."

Now, I'm all about helping someone get somewhere if they are in a competition and need to get somewhere and they really don't have the money. But you expect that someone who is your boss, and obviously makes more than everyone else could get enough money to get a plane ticket that would be at the most $600. As you can assume there was a bunch of funny emails and messages back at him, and the best part is, the boss couldn't figure out why everyone was laughing about it. I think he needs to think that through the next time he asks for something like that.
